Emma sat behind the counter, looking through the window sourly. It was a cloudy, dismal day and the chance of rain was clear. Not that she minded. she loved the rain but rain meant less people would be coming to the bakery. Slow business was never good but it was to be expected. She laid her head against the counter, tapping her fingers on the counter to a made up rhythm.
"Boring..." she said in a sing-song voice. She didn't like when business was slow, she got bored and actually wished she had brought something else to do.
Darker and darker the sky became and Emma felt her stomach drop a little. It was getting late and James still wasn't here. He was suppose to pick her up and take her home so she could close shop. She should know better than to rely on him, he was probably off with one of his female friends who were most likely more than friends. At least it seemed that way to her.
Emma's head shot up when she heard the tinkle of the bell. She put on her warm smile and waited for the customer to place their order.

Looking up at the sky Lianne saw the darkening clouds and grew slightly worried. She was coming home from her recent visit to the hospital and had opted to go the long way because she had to pick up her new skirts from the tailor's and buy food for the next week.
However as soon as she felt her worries start to ease a little, the familiar feeling of something wet hit the point of her nose and soon after it was followed by the millions of aquatic droplets that rained from the dark gray colored clouds that spread through the heavens.
"Kyah!" Lianne squealed and ran inside the nearest building which happened to be a small bakery. Lianna groaned a little as she watched the downpour through the bakery window. "Oh no...It's going to be too late once I get home, that is if the rain stops." She mumbled to herself as she placed the paper bags that contained her possessions on the floor.
She sighed but she hoped that the rain would just be a random downpour that was as soon to lighten as it did when it suddenly started to pour, as was common for London weather. She looked around and noticed the young woman standing by the counter, seeing that she didn't have much else to do, she might as well strike up some conversation to pass the time and buy a few pastries maybe for supper.
She pushed her belongings to a corner of the shop so it wouldn't be a hindrance to other patrons as they came in. Once that was done she walked over to the counter and greeted the young woman. "Hello," She greeted shyly, a friendly smile lighting her face, "quite a bit of drizzle we're having isn't it?" Then she noticed how quiet it was in the shop and how the shelves we're relatively full. "Business a bit slow?" She questioned quietly, a hint of sympathy in her tone as her fingers nervously played with the hem of her pale blue, button-up blouse.
