[/size]It has been one year since Edward Elric died in Amestris and was pardoned by the intriguing entity of The Gate and shifted from one world to the other. Only now that same entity has opened its maw once more of its own accord, drawing people from both worlds to it, including the Fullmetal Alchemist.
A disturbing number of disappearances have begun to amount in Amestris and Germany, as they discover The Gate and are sucked into its clutches; most make it to the other side crushed to death and scattered about, but a few have managed to survive. For the most part they are left confused, disoriented, and some have even been drawn into insanity.
Edward has been dropped into the middle of Central City, the first of survivors, but much like the young Alphonse Elric he is left without the memories of his life before the second world transfer. Without his ability to help, the Amestrian military must sort through the other souls pulled through to put together a picture of the world on the other side and debate the impossible question of whether or not to attempt travel to the world over and extend diplomatic relations or destroy the Gate and put an end to its seemingly indiscriminate murders.
